PORSCHE CARRERA CUP AND SPRINT CHALLENGE UNVEIL CALENDARS FOR 2020

-

The Porsche Carrera Cup GB and Porsche Sprint Challenge GB have confirmed their revised race schedules for motorsport’s resumption in 2020.

The Carrera Cup will support eight of the nine planned 2020 British Touring Car Championship rounds while the new-for-2020 Sprint Challenge supports the other BTCC event, at Croft. Three of the remaining Sprint Challenge rounds will be British GT Championship supports, while its 2020 schedule starts in mid-july at Snetterton in a Porsche Club GB event. There is a single mid-september date clash for the two Porsche categories, when Carrera Cup is at Thruxton and Sprint Challenge is at Donington Park.

BTCC released a revised ninemeeting calendar for its delayed 2020 season a month ago and British GT followed in mid-may with its own six-event schedule.

Porsche Carrera Cup GB also still plans to hold four exclusive tests, at Donington and Brands Hatch on dates to be confirmed as well as Knockhill on August 26 and Silverstone National on September 23.

James Macnaughton, Porsche Cars GB’S motorsport manager, said: “It was a core objective for our original 2020 calendar to try and avoid any date clashes between the two championships to try and help the teams, many of whom run cars in both championships, manage their resources as effectively as possible. Despite the condensed nature of the revised provisional calendar, it’s remarkable that there’s only one clash of dates and we’ll be working with teams to ensure that works as smoothly as possible.”
