RAM TARGETS BRITISH GT TITLE WITH LOGGIE AND BUURMAN RETURN
Duo gunning for the championship with RAM Racing in all-Pro-Am British GT3 battle
Reigning GT3 Pro-Am champion pair Ian Loggie and Yelmer Buurman are set to be among the overall British GT title favourites as they return this season with RAM Racing.
RAM, which was close runner-up in 2020’s drivers’ and teams’championships, will again enter two Mercedes-AMG GT3s in British GT’s 2021 contest. Amateur racer Loggie and Mercedes works pilot Buurman last year were regular frontrunners with RAM and, with previously dominant Silver Cup pairings now banned in GT3, the Pro-Am duo should be in the hunt for the overall crown.
Their #6 Mercedes also has a colour change to pink, in support of blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia.
RAM is set to confirm its second entrant pair soon. Buurman and Loggie’s RAM team-mate duo last year was Sam De Haan and Patrick Kujala in a now-obsolete all-Silver pair.
Buurman said: “Last year was pretty tough as it became clear quite early on that a SilverSilver
pairing would win the overall title. Us Pro-Ams couldn’t quite live with them if there was a safety car or any kind of interruption. This year will be different and we’re 100% out for the overall championship.
“Ian has progressed so well in his driving over the last year. He listens and learns very quickly, and has the skill to make changes to his technique to get faster each time he goes out. It’s fantastic to work with a driver like that, and I know RAM will give us a car capable of fighting for this championship.”
