Max’s woe revealed

Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko has revealed that Bahrain Grand Prix runnerup Max Verstappen was losing 0.3s per lap in the early stages with a differenti­al problem and then the team had to restrict the power to the Honda engine in the closing stages due to overheatin­g. “We were handicappe­d in the first stages,” said Marko.

“Then we had to turn the engine down.” Verstappen finished 0.7s behind winner Lewis Hamilton.
