Webster, Team Parker Racing’s champion and runner-up in last year’s Porsche Carrera Cup GB, will compete with the squad in this year’s Formula 1-supporting Porsche Supercup.
The multiple title-winning team confirmed earlier in 2021 that in partnership with Revs Motorsport it will enter a full-time two-car attack in the Supercup, which introduces the 992-shape 911 GT3 Cup this year.
Porsche Junior King last year in his debut Carrera Cup season took a dominant title, and the 20-year-old will now combine his 2021 campaign to retain his GB crown with a step-up to international competition.
Webster is 2014’s Carrera GB champion and competed in Porsche Supercup full-time in 2017 and ’18. He posted on Twitter last month asking for help in getting a 2021 drive, and posted again three days later that the “outpouring of support” from his initial post got him his Supercup chance.
With the confirmation of his ’21 plans Webster tweeted: “Things change very quickly in life!” He added though his Supercup budget is not entirely covered and he is still seeking sponsorship.
King said of his Supercup move: “It’s something I’ve wanted to achieve since becoming a Porsche Junior driver and is the logical step. My goal for the Supercup is obviously to be at the front and, whether it takes a few rounds or a full season, I know we’ll definitely find our feet.”
