LE MANS WINNER CAMPAIGNS FOR VENUE EV CHARGERS
Le Mans class winner and European Le Mans Series GT champion Mike Youles is campaigning for electric vehicle chargers to be available at motorsport venues via his comeback Clubmans racing.
Youles took 1990’s Le Mans 24 Hours C2 class win and 2001’s ELMS GT championship, and ended a racing sabbatical last year with appearances in the Clubmans Sports Prototype championship in Dave Beecroft’s Mallock Mk 27. He started his 2021 campaign last weekend at Donington.
And while Youles’ Mallock has an internal combustion engine, his effort has the backing of two organisations to promote EV charging for competitors and spectators at racing events.
Youles is supported by fast EV charger designer and supplier Sync EV, and it is joined this season by commercial energy provider Smarter Business. Their business models are that smarter energy provision derives savings to cover the cost of installing EV charging infrastructure.
