BELL CHOOSES BRC FOR HIS 2021 CAMPAIGN

-

Former Junior WRC driver Ruairi Bell will return to the British Rally Championship in 2021, competing for Junior BRC honours in a Ford Fiesta Rally4.

Bell won the M-Sport Fiesta prize in the BRC two years ago that helped him compete in the JWRC but he missed out on the overall junior title. That’s something he’d like to avenge as well as gaining more experience behind the wheel.

“It’s a fantastic calendar and it’s fantastic that they’re putting something on during Covid,” Bell told MN.

“Why not come back and go for this fantastic prize [Hyundai WRC2 drive in 2022] and more importantly get some experience?

“I’m still only 21,” Bell added. “While I’ve gone and done the JWRC which was a fantastic opportunity, it arguably was a bit too early in that I didn’t have the experience to really put the pace down. I was learning so much, learning how to rally not how to do WRC events.

“We achieved exactly what we wanted to achieve: we wanted some top five results and a stage win and we got a podium and two stage wins but there’s a bigger picture. There’s a longer-term goal to be back in the WRC and part of that role definitely relies on more national championship experience.”
