BIRD REGISTERS FOR BRC AFTER “ENJOYABLE” RALLY2 DEBUT
Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship frontrunner Frank Bird has registered for the 2021 British Rally Championship after an “enjoyable” Ford Fiesta Rally2 debut at Snetterton.
He finished second to Rhys Yates in the second meeting of the MNCRC season in Norfolk, clinching two stage wins along the way. It came on
Bird’s first run in Rally2 machinery as his usual Ford Focus WRC07 he claimed victory with at Donington is currently undergoing repairs.
Bird told MN: “After 30 minutes in the car, it felt good. I’d only had a few miles to shake the car down, but I love it. It feels like a little go-kart.
“The most obvious difference [between the
Rally2 and WRC] is the braking. You can brake so much later than you think.”
Bird and co-driver
Jack Morton indicated to Motorsport News that they were interested in more Rally2 outings.
They have entered the Neil Howard Stages at Oulton Park – a round of both the BRC and MNCRC – in the machine.
