Newcomers head the BTRDA influx

-

With 97 drivers registered to the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship this year in the various different categories, that figure marks the biggest uptake in the series history since it began in 1977.

Series co-ordinator John Rook believes that rallycross has benefited from other disciplines not having been able to run events amid the complications brought on by the pandemic.

Rook told MN: “We’ve got some new rally drivers, autograss drivers and autocross drivers joining us for that reason. That’s part of it, but

I think the other side is still that this championship is accessible for those who want to enter in a budget entry-level formula. In the Production class this weekend at Lydden we will have eight drivers who have never competed in motorsport before, which is great.”

The BTRDA series is set to run over six rounds in 2021, with visits to Blyton Park sandwiching a double-header at Pembrey, and the finale taking place at Knockhill for the third year in succession.
