MULTIPLE CHAMPION TF SPORT BACK IN BRITISH GT FOR SILVERSTONE 500
Famous squad returns to championship’s GT3 contest for blue-riband event with two Aston Vantages
Multiple-champion TF Sport is returning to British GT competition at next month’s flagship Silverstone round with two GT3 Aston Martin Vantages led by the marque’s factory drivers.
Charlie Eastwood with Giacomo Petrobelli plus Marco Sorensen alongside Bonamy Grimes will form Pro-Am pairings with TF at British
GT’s three-hour Silverstone 500.
TF boss Tom Ferrier told Motorsport News: “Both Bon and Giacomo wanted to do some guests races this season, and with Giacomo having done this event last year, and Bonamy wanting to give the new GT3 a go, British GT’s blueriband event made a lot of sense!
“We know the Aston GT3 performs well around the GP circuit and we were on pole for British GT in both GT3 and
GT4 in 2019. A podium for either car is certainly achievable.”
TF won 2019’s GT3 drivers’title and 2018’s teams’ contest. It withdrew its 2020 full-season GT3 entries due to Covid, though raced a GT3 Vantage in Silverstone’s season closer with Tom Canning alongside Petrobelli. TF has no 2021 full-season British GT entries, though Ferrier told MN it has “some more announcements to make soon”.
All four drivers are familiar to TF. Eastwood won Le Mans’ 2020 GTE Am contest and 2019’s Blancpain Pro-Am championship with the team while twice World Endurance Championship GTE Pro champion Sorensen completed a full British GT3 season with TF in 2018. Experienced LMP3 and GT competitor Grimes, who currently leads Britcar’s points table, raced with TF in the 2018-19 Asian Le Mans Series.
