The Hansen World RX team will continue to field brothers Timmy and Kevin Hansen for the 2024 World Rallycross Championship season, the sixth straight year the pair have been the squad’s lead drivers.

The World RX series will be run for both electric and internal combustion engine cars this season. The Hansen squad will stick with the Peugeot 208

RX1e they used since the start of 2022, until the British round at Lydden Hill which paused the use of the RX1e concept due to the fire that destroyed the Special One Racing Lancia Deltas.

“This season feels different in many ways, so we’re grateful to have Timmy and Kevin continuing with the team,” said 14-time European champion and team principal Kenneth Hansen, who confirmed the deal last week.

“Timmy and Kevin have both enjoyed a great start to the year in their other disciplines, and this gives us a lot of confidence as a team going into the World RX season. Just as they have been working hard, so have we back at HQ. We have turned all the stones we can to find all the small ways for us to improve. We must keep innovating and trying new things, and this is how the ‘Battle of Technologies’ has come about.”

The 2019 World RX Drivers’ champion Timmy Hansen is the only driver to have contested every one of the series’106 rounds held since 2014 and says the mixed-propulsion concept is a welcome addition.

“It’s a very different season this year,” said Hansen. “We’ve had two seasons of new electric technology and now, finally, we get to go up against combustion cars and I think that will be a great show for the fans.

“The electric will have some strengths, but so will the combustion – which will be a lot lighter in the regulations - so it will be very interesting and for sure make the championship more unpredictable.”
