Told former partner she had an STD

-

A COUNTY man has admitted gaging in a course of conduct that was abusive of his partner, including telling her she might have a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

Jamie Hood carried out the abusive, controlling behaviour against the woman from his home address and at several places where he knew the woman would be over a two-year period.

Hood, of Annfield Court, Macmerry, attended at locations where he knew his ex-partner was meeting friends and repeatedly contacted her by text, phone calls and social media from unknown numbers.

He also made derogatory, offensive and threatening remarks to the woman during the unwanted contact, despite being told by her to desist on several occasions.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that Hood also left a voicemail for the woman stating she had a sexually transmitted infection; and on one occasion, he loitered outside her home and sent her a photograph.

The court also heard that, on one occasion, the 36-year-old turned up at the Edinburgh gym where the woman worked out and waited for her to finish the class she was attending.

He then demanded to know why she had finished the relationship between them and, on one occasion, followed her and repeatedly requested she resume the relationship.

The incidents took place at Annfield Court, Macmerry; at an address at Toll House Grove in Tranent; and at Ladyfield Road in Edinburgh between November 1, 2021, and December 31 last year.

Hood pleaded guilty to an amended charge of engaging in a course of abusive behaviour against the woman which was prosecuted under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018 when he appeared at the Capital court last week.

Sentence was deferred to next month for the preparation of background reports and Hood was granted bail.
