Home Sweet Home!

My Weekly Special - - The Complete Guide To Honey -

Although a lot of our bee friends are from a hive, some of them are looking for a place to call home in our gardens, and these bees often need our help. Nesting colony bees will be looking for a nice dr y, dark and safe spot, like under a shed or in a compost heap. Some will nest in grass, in the trees, or in unused bird boxes. If you find some tiny piles of dir t in patches of soil in your garden, this could be a sign that ground nesting queens are in residence – or looking to be.

To be a real bee buddy, why not make a few nesting spots in the garden? Some hollow reeds bound together, blocked at one end and placed in a rainproof spot will do the job ver y nicely!
