Be­ing seden­tar y is also linked to car­dio­vas­cu­lar disease and while we all know we need to move a bit more, how much ex­er­cise do we re­ally need? The cur­rent ad­vice is to do 30 min­utes of ex­er­cise 5 times per week. How­ever we do know that even 10 min­utes of phys­i­cal ac­tiv­ity a day helps.

And as for what ex­er­cise to do? What­ever you want, just enough to bring up your hear t rate, so that you are able to talk but slightly too breath­less to sing. And if that sounds like too much, then start by sim­ply mov­ing more – get off the bus one stop early, work at your desk stand­ing up for an hour or so in­stead of sit­ting, or take a stroll around dur­ing your lunch break.
