Being sedentar y is also linked to cardiovascular disease and while we all know we need to move a bit more, how much exercise do we really need? The current advice is to do 30 minutes of exercise 5 times per week. However we do know that even 10 minutes of physical activity a day helps.

And as for what exercise to do? Whatever you want, just enough to bring up your hear t rate, so that you are able to talk but slightly too breathless to sing. And if that sounds like too much, then start by simply moving more – get off the bus one stop early, work at your desk standing up for an hour or so instead of sitting, or take a stroll around during your lunch break.
