SEEDHEADS...

Gather the seedheads of spent flowers, such as alliums, globe thistles and teasels; dry thoroughly; then coat in spray paint. Attach ribbon to make tree decorations (although alliums can simply be perched on the tree’s boughs). Arrange seedheads with stems to create a vase arrangement, or use the two to create a nest table centrepiece for a candle. Large starry seedheads – such as Allium schubertii and Allium cristophii, which reach 20-30cm across – can be hung from the ceiling.
