Longleat Festival Of Light, Wiltshire
The Longleat Festival of Light is a spectacular light display, with over 600 lanterns around the grounds. As darkness falls, Longleat illuminations take you on an exploration of sights from around the world, including the Great Pyramid of Giza towering 20 metres into the night sky. The Longleat Flyer chuffs past in a cloud of steam, and children’s characters, Harry, Bea and dog Monty appear in some displays. See them suspended among the clouds in a hot air balloon, or camel trekking across the Egyptian desert. Explore exotic locations and glacial scenes, all depicted as vibrant and colourful illuminations. Highlights include a rocket ship blasting into space, gargantuan dinosaurs, and medieval knights on horseback, as they prepare for battle outside an illuminated castle. There’s a Santa Train, a huge Christmas tree, and the house is decorated for a 1920s Christmas. The event runs from November 9 to January 6. www.longleat.co.uk/groups/events
