Dear Patricia,

I have left my church – I became disillusioned with all the reports of sexual abuse cases within the priesthood. It made me feel I had been duped and it makes me feel stupid. I now feel quite lonely, as at least there was a community of sorts and I enjoyed the singing. What do you suggest to help with this? Janet

It is a sad situation. Ever y religion on the planet is dominated by patriarchal rules. Regrettably there has been misuse of power by individuals, lies have been told, truth suppressed. Much damage has been done to many people Your question is an impor tant one.

I suggest you develop an inner spiritual way of life that acknowledges the presence of an all-loving, forgiving force within. Some call it God, Goddess, Source, the Universe, Spirit, Creator. Your spiritual life lies within you, not outside. When you maintain your inner power and don’t give it away to any outside presence, you develop a strong relationship with this all-creative force of Love within. Life
