This month I’ve been taste-testing Lindt’s new hazelnut chocolate spread – well someone had to do it! – fallen in love with my new must-have moisturiser and sounding off about why coronavirus is a poor excuse for shabby customer service…

Nutella v Lindt

When I heard the Swiss chocolate magicians at Lindt had created a Hazelnut Chocolate Spread, I was keen to see how it stacked up against Nutella, a firm favourite in our house.

When it comes to what’s in the stuf f, Nutella contains palm oil, but there’s no mention of this on the Lindt jar. And when it comes to the nut punch, Nutella pack in 13% of Hazelnuts and Lindt boast 25%.

So I roped in the family to give it our own blind tasting consumer test...

The Verdict

Lindt won! All of us chose this as our favourite, beating Nutella on taste hands down. Forget spreading it – it’s delicious straight from the jar! Lindt has a more set look when you dip in, compared with Nutella, and tastes much creamier and smoother than its rival. It’s not cheap at £5.99 (200g) on Lindt’s website, but I picked ours up in Asda for just £4.50.

Favourite Moisturiser

I regularly switch brands with face moisturisers. Yes, I have my favourites, but if I spot a special offer or a new product on discount, then I’ll give it a go. But I won’t be playing around any more as I’ve now totally fallen in love with Steamcream. Made from natural ingredients, it’s not tested on animals and is great for sensitive skin – plus it comes in gorgeous funky tins. It melts into my skin, with no greasy residue and just five minutes later I can put on my make-up. £13.95 at www.steamcream.com

The standard company response to emails and calls is to warn of delays due to Covid. I found the worst of fender was the AA. It took over a week to reply to emails twice! Online shopping has seen a boom, but when it comes to returns, companies warn of delays in processing refunds, yet they weren’t as slow to take my cash in the first place!
