MATERIALS

1 (1, 2, 2, 2, 3) 170.1g ball(s) of Caron Simply Soft

TENSION

18 sts and 24 rows to 10cm measured over st-st using 5mm needles.

FRONT

With 4.5mm needles and C, cast on 72 (81, 89, 98, 117, 134) sts.

Work 7 rows in g-st, noting 1st row is wrong side and inc 4 (4, 5, 5, 7, 8) sts evenly across last row – 76 (81, 89, 98, 117, 134) sts.

Break off yarn C.

Change to 5mm needles and M, and beg with a knit row, work in st-st until work measures approx. 25.5 (25.5, 25.5, 28, 28, 28) cm, ending after a purl row**. Shape armholes – Cast of f 10 (13, 14, 14, 9, 10) sts at beg of next 2 (2, 2, 2, 4, 4) rows – 58 (59, 66, 75,

88, 102) sts.

Dec 1 st each end of row on next 3 (3, 5, 7, 7, 11) rows, then ever y foll alt row 2 (2, 3, 3, 5, 5) times – 46 (49, 50, 55, 64, 70) sts.

Break off yarn M.

Change to 4.5 mm needles and C. 1st row (right side) – Knit, dec 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4) sts evenly across row – 43 (46, 47, 51, 60, 66) sts.

Knit 6 rows.

Cast of f knitwise.

BACK

With 4.5mm needles and C, cast on 72 (81, 89, 98, 117, 134) sts.

Work as given for front to **. Break off yarn M.

Change to 5mm needles and C.

1st row (right side) – Knit, dec 5 (5, 5, 6, 7, 8) sts evenly across row – 71 (80, 89, 97, 117, 134) sts.

Knit 6 rows.

Cast of f knitwise.

TO COMPLETE

Front armhole edging – With 4.5mm needles and C, pick up and knit 16 (19, 23, 23, 29, 34) sts across front armhole edge, including cast-of f sts and gar ter-st section.

Knit 6 rows.

Cast of f knitwise.

Shoulder straps (2) – With 4.5mm needles and C, cast on 43 (47, 52, 57, 61,

66) sts. Knit 8 rows noting 1st row is wrong side. Cast of f knitwise.

To Make Up – Sew side seams and matching g-st sections.

Sew straps to side edges at front. We recommend you now tr y the top on and pin the straps to the back adjustling length if necessar y by layering ends of each strap to wrong side of back. Pin in place then sew in position.
