You can’t visit Sydney without falling in love with it. My first glimpse of the Opera House had me hooked and inspired my love and passion for the city that’s taken me back three times.

But competing with the dazzling Opera House is the magnificen­t Harbour Bridge which only recently celebrated its 85th birthday.

If you feel like a challenge why not do the BridgeClim­b, WWW.BRIDGECLIM­B.COM, and take in the view from the top of the Harbour Bridge? Climbing that famous arch is an amazing experience and our guide Romeo kept us entertaine­d with stories about the bridge’s history and took our souvenir snaps. It’s not cheap at around £160, but an unforgetta­ble, once in a lifetime experience!

If you want a harbour view without the climb, a Sydney secret is the rooftop bar at the Glenmore Hotel in the Rocks area. The Rocks is also home to some of the city’s oldest buildings and pubs and there’s a free tour every day from Cadman’s Cottage, WWW.IMFREE.COM.AU.

If you only do one boat trip in Sydney, catch the ferry from Circular Quay over to Manly. It’s one of the best boat rides in the world, takes half an hour, and you can have lunch on the beach and get the ferry back at sunset for more picture postcard harbour views.

Set aside several hours for the six kilometre Bondi to Coogee coastal walk which takes in the bays at Bronte and Clovelly. It’s not a tough walk but you’ll want plenty of time to make the most of the
