Valentine’s Fun

Want to make a grand gesture or share some special moments? Here are our favourite choices…

Valentine’s Day is for pampering and passion, so where better to go than luxury restaurants, spas, stately homes and castles, or to gardens that still look beautiful in February?

But first, let’s talk romantic cruises! Ships are leaving the UK for all sorts of exotic locations this February. CRUISE1ST.CO.UK will take you to the Mediterranean, along the Amazon River, or to the sunny south coast of the United States and the Bahamas.

CITYCRUISES.COM have a Valentine’s Champagne Afternoon Tea Cruise, which travels along the Thames in London. See the city lit up, sip champagne and enjoy live entertainment. There’s a selection of sandwiches and pastries, a single red rose, and scintillating company (hopefully!).

CRUISECRITIC.CO.UK have some fabulous February cruises, including a four-night cruise from Southampton to Bruges and Amsterdam. Check the website for availability.

If cruising isn’t your thing, perhaps a Virgin Experience Day would appeal? You can buy tickets for comedy nights, a View From The

Shard experience, meals at top restaurants, football stadium tours, pamper days, champagne afternoon teas, whisky blending experiences, and even tree-top adventures with Go Ape!

Indoor skydiving might seem more hair-raising than romantic, but it’ll get your adrenaline pumping and set the scene for a relaxing meal afterwards, with plenty to talk about! You can go skydiving in a wind tunnel at Milton Keynes Xscape, Basingstoke or London. Look online for a facility near you. Skydiving is also available as an Experience Day.

There’s something about stately homes and castles that epitomises romance. Perhaps it’s the medieval architecture, the towering turrets, the grand interiors or romantic ruins. The National Trust’s Bodiam Castle, Sussex, has a Valentine’s dinner every year, and Wimpole Estate, Cambridgeshire, is a beautiful place for a romantic walk.
