Fiona Phillips
The much-loved presenter is turning her attention to supermarket sales ploys and getting rather cross!
◆ I am so proud to still be doing a job I love. It’s brilliant and no day is ever the same. But I never clock watch, I never make a fuss and I will only take a sick day if I really need to. ◆ Right now, I am cohosting a new consumer series for Channel 5 with Gaby Roslin. It’s different from the others because it is a lot more down to earth, it’s topical and we have direct lines to the major supermarkets that tell us what the real bargains are. I know if the bargains they are telling us are true or not because I generally know the price of most things! ◆ I actually tend to shop every day rather than do a big supermarket shop. I even carry a bag around with me in my workbag in case I see something to buy (for our dinner that night!). But I do most of myy clothes shoppingppg online,, as I can’t bear the agony of seeing myself in changing room mirrors! I never look good in them and I’d much rather try them on at home. ◆ I bust a gasket when I see an item in a supermarket that is £1 more expensive in a store than another. I get really angry walking around knowing what they are doing. And why do supermarkets tr y and tempt us with those buy-threefor-£ f offers? You end up throwing one away. Or I do – and I am not doing that any more!
