MOVING MOMENTS…

-

Hugs and tears are to be expected on ThisMorning when many of the guests share some heartwrenching stories and experiences. “The thing about ThisMorning is we can discuss anything!” says Ruth. “This Morning has moved daytime television forward – it isn’t just cookery, fashion and showbiz, it tackles controversial subjects, too. You need a show like ThisMorning to shine a light on all areas of life.” Phil feels the show’s recent “Project 84” was particularly powerful. “The difference and impact that campaign had in raising awareness of male suicide and mental health was phenomenal. “That was one of the best campaigns we’ve ever done.” And Holly adds that the anti-bullying campaign “Be Kind” was another amazing achievement. “It really got kids talking and teachers up and down the country were using our guide and video links in schools to pass on that message… and hopefully prevent further needless deaths.”

It’s also impossible to forget This Morning’s sensitive coverage of Diana’s death in 1997. Richard notes that week of coverage as the best thing he and Judy did with This Morning. “Day by day ThisMorning tracked and reflected the public’s undulating response, including the sudden backlash against the Royal Family for staying at Balmoral for so long.” Judy adds, “The programme was just so viscerally connected to

its viewers!”
