Convenient And Good For You
What’s in your freezer? Well, according to a survey by Birds Eye, peas are the most regularly consumed frozen food in the UK, closely followed by chips, ice cream and fish fillets. In fact, we get through 300 million frozen food items a week – everything from frozen fruit and veg to frozen fish. The survey did reveal, however, that most of the general public are mistaken about the types of food that can be frozen. The truth is that only a few foods aren’t ideal for freezing, such as eggs, both raw and cooked, or vegetables with a high water content as they tend to go mushy upon defrosting. A quick survey in the office revealed that chilli con carne, homemade soup and chicken breasts were in our freezers.
