We’re Saying Cheers…
Festive fizz lovers will know their famous tipple can come in big bottles. The custom of using oversize bottles, often named after biblical characters, was started by champagne traders in the 19th century when the wine became internationally popular. Whilst a magnum holds a modest 2 bottles and a jeroboam a generous 4, there are 13 sizes in total with the largest, a melchisedech, holding a whopping 40 bottles – that would really make the party go with a swing!
