Are there any free family-friendly open-air film festivals? ◆ How about the Brindley Place Film Festival? It takes place in a stunning canalside location in Birmingham. The area has plenty of restaurants, bars and events. Now in its eighth year, the festival runs from July 15-21 and it’s totally free. Just turn up with a chair, find a space and watch the show.
