With so many gorgeous decorative items to buy and make, why not fill your home with spring cheer for Easter?

The arrival of spring is cause for celebration and with Easter coming, why not get creative with decorations?

Start with a showstopping entrance. Rebecca Stanton, creative stylist at

Dobbies, says, “The wonderful thing about a spring front door display is that you can totally tailor it for the size of your space, whether that’s styling up a full floral arch to transform m a porch or taking element ts of the display and using thet same spring flowers to create a handmade doorway wreath.”

To make the arch (see e image below), use chicke en wire, formed into your chosen shape. Wedge oasis blocks (soaked in water first) into it at intervals. Build a base layer of greenery before adding fresh floral stems to the oasis blocks, balancing colour and texture. In a covered doorway, artificial flowers can be included.

Artificial flowers are ideal for making indoor spring wreaths. Try Hobbycraft’s easy-make using their Rattan Wreath and Artificial Floral Sprays £2-£3, HOBBYCRAFT.CO.UK (see image opposite). First, pull apart the flower spray and

cut off each sprig using wire cutters. Weave the sprigs into the rattan wreath, tucking in the stems. Add daffodil sprigs separately to make a focal point. Finally, tie on a piece of ribbon ready to hang up.

Lights4fun suggest adding microlights to their ready-made Bunny, Daisy or Sunflower spring wreaths; especially pretty glowing on a bare mantelpiece in the evening. For more inspiration, try decorating your Easter table in pastel shades of pale blue, pink, green and yellow and adding pillar candles, votives or Easter-themed microlights, with mini glass egg decorations scattered among them. As a fun touch, shape your napkins into a bunny head and pop an egg decoration inside (see image), tied with string to keep it in place. Make a centrepiece using twigs to form a nest with egg decorations in the middle.

“I love the element of surprise that comes with Easter decorating,” adds Rebecca Stanton.

“Once you see your home transformed and feel the instant spring cheer that’s created, I’m sure it will become a much loved and looked-forward-to tradition!”
