SKIN KINDNESS

It can be easy to dismiss the impact of skin problems as “only skin deep”, however, new research from the British Skin Foundation shows just how much skin conditions can affect a person’s mental health. More than 1 in 3 people with a skin condition say it affects their mental health, leading to depression, anxiety or lack of confidence going out in public. So let’s all think twice before we comment on others’ skin.

DRY JANUARY

It looks as if Dry January was a big event this year, with one in 6 adults who drink planning to go alcohol-free for this month. For one in three of those people, it was the idea of joining others for Dry Januar y, rather than giving up on their own, that appealed. However, if you’re one of the 1 in 6, don’t be tempted to then go on to drink to excess for the rest of the year because you made it through one month – tr y to be kind to your liver!

SCIENCE OF CANCER

We hear a lot about medical advances for cancer, but what do they really mean? The Science Museum Group is opening a major new exhibition, exploring the past, present and future of how cancer has been and is now being prevented, detected and treated. The exhibition opened in Manchester in October 2021 and will be in London in May 2022. It’s fun, fascinating, educational and interactive – and it’s free!
