FIGHT THE FLAB

-

As well as trying to make healthier food choices, take steps to reduce your stress, says Dr Lee. “Start by tackling emotional eating and noticing the difference between hunger and stress. If you’re reaching for the biscuit tin, try eating an apple instead. If you don’t want the apple, you’re not really hungry – so try going for a brisk 10-minute walk instead.

“Avoid fast food takeaways – they’re notoriously high in fat, sugar and salt. When you eat these foods, you experience a sudden high as your blood sugar levels rise, but a terrible low as they wear off. You can make ‘fakeaways’ at home, which are far healthier.

“Finally, don’t skip meals – doing so inevitably leads to blowout binges when your hunger catches up with you.”
