She Has Won People Over

Camilla didn’t have the easiest of entries into the Royal Family, but, after 17 years of marriage to Charles she is a well-liked working Royal. A YouGov poll in 2005 revealed only 7% of the British public thought she could be Queen, but 10 years later it was more than 50%. Harry said of his stepmother, “She’s a wonder ful woman, and she’s made our father very happy, which is the most important thing.” As consorts, Prince Philip and Camilla were also said to have a special relationship. Speaking at a Biennial Rifles Awards Dinner recently, Camilla said, “It is a daunting task to take over from a former Colonel-in-Chief, but in my case, to step into the boots of my much-missed, late father-in-law is quite frankly terrifying! I know it was a role he cherished and of which he was immensely proud and it is one of f the greatest honours of my life to follow him into this role.”
