◆ If you pay peanuts for flight tickets, don’t shell out for hold luggage. It can cost over £40 per flight, so pack a small cabin bag, which can be free.

◆ Do double check your airline’s size and weight limit on cabin bags or hold luggage. There’s no one size fits all.

◆ Pack a picnic. Buying onboard food can put a dent in your holiday money, though I do often splash out on a glass of fizz!
