Dilly’s Craft Corner

-

Interiors Expert Dilly Orme says, “Treat Mum to a personally planted mini garden, a lovely centrepiece all year round.”

Choose a tray or platter to work with the décor where the garden will be displayed. Then choose a selection of pretty vessels that will work well together. Dobbies ( DOBBIES.COM) sell a good selection of ready-planted succulents with clear care instructions, or you can plant up your own using cactus and succulent compost. Squeeze the sides of your succulent’s plastic pot to loosen its soil, and gently remove it from the pot. Gently crumble away any clinging dirt from the roots. Place your succulent in a hole in the compost in the new pot then add more compost to the top to secure your succulent in place. Be sure to add enough to reach the base of the plant, but don’t cover any leaves or let the leaves rest on top of the soil! Finish with a layer of grit.
