Yoga can “reverse” DNA reactions that cause stress, lowering inflammato­ry compounds in the blood, say Coventry University researcher­s. “Focusing on your breathing automatica­lly lowers your heart rate and cortisol (stress hormone),” explains yoga teacher and trainer Cheryl MacDonald ( WWW.YOGABELLIE­S.CO.UK).

“Yoga also requires focus – holding your body in a balanced position, looking inward, focusing solely on your body is akin to meditation,” she adds.
