Subscription Traps

Fantastic offers often come with a catch. A common one is signing up for a subscription that you don’t want but can prove to be difficult to get out of.

◆ Before entering your card details, check the small print carefully.

◆ If you decide to take advantage of the initial offer, check how easy it is to cancel any ongoing subscription. Is it a simple “click to cancel” or do you have to phone up?

◆ Set a reminder on your calendar and phone to cancel before the end of the trial period.

◆ Keep an eye on your bank statement for unexpected payments.

◆ If you have signed up to a subscription by mistake or after a “free trial”, complain to the company concerned.
