COMMONWEALTH MATTERS
Heir to the throne, Prince Charles has also been the natural successor to a significant amount of his mother’s workload. The Queen has declared it her “sincere wish” that Prince Charles will succeed her as Head of the Commonwealth, one of her greatest passions, and leaders of the member countries have declared their approval of that preference. Having visited 45 of the 54 Commonwealth member countries, many of them several times, and represented the Queen at recent Commonwealth events, the prince is certainly primed for the role.
The Duchess of Cornwall is usually at Charles’ side, but now also supports over 90 charities as their Patron or President in her own right, several, such as Barnardo’s and The Royal School of Needlework, passed to her by the Queen.
