Did you take part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch back in Januar y? Well, the results are in. The house sparrow is still at the top of the rankings, with blue tits and starlings retaining the second and third spots. Moving into fourth place are woodpigeons, who have had a ver y good year, as have magpies, jackdaws and jays. Coal tits, long-tailed tits and song thrushes however, have seen a marked decline in numbers. We can all help by providing good garden habitats and nesting places in the spring and summer, and food throughout the colder months.
