EDIBLE Blossoms

-

From blossoms in the trees to blossoms on the ground! We grow rows of chives as an attractive mini-hedge between the lines of spinach and salads in the veg garden, adding colour to the greener y. Some have the usual purple flowers, others are bright pink or blushed white. These are named varieties such as ‘Black Isle Blush’ and ‘Pink Per fection’. You can eat chive flowers as well as leaves. Pull apart the flowerheads to scatter individual florets on salads for colour and flavour. They have the same onion flavour as the leaves. Chives make good insect plants and bumblebees like to visit them for nectar so they are a good plant for a wildlife garden.
