Interiors Expert Dilly Orme says, “Go retro with a beaded door curtain!”

Measure the inside width and length of the doorway. Cut a dowel rod to this width plus 10cm. Measure in from each side 5cm and mark it. Between these two points, with a ruler, mark the point for each eyelet hook. Count the marks for how many rows of beads you’ll need. Create a scaled drawing on graph paper based on your measurements, using one row per strand of beads, and design the bead colour arrangement. Number each row for easy reference. If you want it more haphazard, a diagram may not be necessary. Screw an eyelet hook into each mark on the dowel rod. Cut some nylon string or fishing wire to about 30cm longer than the finished curtain and start stringing your beads, securing at the top and bottom with knots or crimping beads. Finally, hang the dowel rod across the doorframe.
