To the test

I’d never heard of Hampshire/Wiltshire’s Test Valley until I read your ‘Six alternatives to the Cotswolds’ piece online. My partner and I used our precious fuel to drive down from the Midlands and spend a weekend in the area a few weeks ago. What a beautiful part of the country — and even the weather was kind to us. After walks along the crystalclear river, we finished in Salisbury, where an original copy of Magna Carta is kept in the enormous cathedral. And best of all, we even had enough fuel for the drive home. JOHN MCANDREWS
