A FAMILY BUSINESS

-

The story of DAS EDELWEISS has always been a family affair, with no fewer than 14 members of the Hettegger family now actively involved in running the hotel.

1977

The hotel began life in 1977, when the grandparents of the present owners opened a small guesthouse in Grossarl with just 14 rooms.

1990S

DAS EDELWEISS grew, through several phases of enlargement and refurbishment, into a fivestar property. Over the years, these expansions saw the opening of four restaurants and bars — Sirloin Grill & Dine, Petrus Fine Dining Restaurant, Kork & Gloria and the Alpine Bar — and the spacious Mountain Spa, with both adults-only and family areas.

2018

Peter and Karin Hettegger took over running the hotel from Peter’s parents, and set about reimagining and transforming it into the stylishly designed resort we see today, while never losing sight of the family’s core values — offering a luxurious and welcoming holiday to their guests.
