Isle of wonder

-

My wife and I have just finished reading your December 2021 edition and we loved Jamie Laerty’s Cyprus article, which provided a great insight into a lesser-known part of the island, a far cry from the crowds of Ayia Napa at the other end of Cyprus. We’re well acquainted with the Akamas region and the writer did the right thing by listening to local advice about the best mode of transport for exploring this fantastically wild and rugged area. The locals have long campaigned to keep this part of the island unspoilt and to avoid the developers’ bulldozers, so it was wonderful to read an article that brought this to the readers’ attention and promoted maintaining this natural landscape. Lastly, it was good to read that skiing is well and truly alive in Cyprus — it’s probably one of the only places in the world where you can ski and sunbathe on a sandy beach all within the space of an hour!
