Train of thought

I was delighted to add more spectacular European railway journeys to my must-do list after reading your ‘Rail Renaissance’ feature (Smart Traveller, June 2022). It brought back memories of regularly catching the sleeper train between Paddington and Penzance during my 10 years of living in London, and also a memorable trip between Bergen and Oslo. As comfortable as the cabin was, seeing a full moon reflected off Norway’s crystalclear, super-still lakes was incomparable and made going to sleep very unappealing.
