In 2017, Francis Joyon skippered a crewed trimaran around the globe in 40 days and 23 hours, slashing nearly five days off the record. The same year, François Gabart set the round-the-world solo record: 42 days, 16 hours.
YOUNGEST PERSON TO CROSS THE ATLANTIC
In 2007, 14-year-old Michael Perham became the youngest person to single-handedly sail 3,500 miles from Gibraltar to Antigua. Two years later, he sailed solo around the Earth.
FIRST WOMAN TO SAIL AROUND ANTARCTICA
In 2022, the first woman to sail solo around the South
Pole, Australian Lisa Blair, also broke the record for the fastest unassisted voyage around the continent, in just 92 days.
