As Helen Wood lifts the lid on Wayne Rooney’s cheating past, Coleen is left embarrassed yet again
Coleen Rooney’s reaction to husband Wayne’s numerous indiscretions has divided the public over the years. Some consider her a doormat for putting up with it, some say that by standing by her man she’s clearly only in the marriage for money, while others praise her determination to provide a stable home for her four sons.
But most can agree that after 11 turbulent years of marriage, to read the details along with the rest of the world in Helen Wood’s memoir A Man’s World (Amazon, £14.99) must be a brutal blow.
The new book, in which Helen claims the DC United player hired multiple escorts throughout his marriage, will have no doubt cast a shadow over Coleen’s summer plans in the UK with sons Kai, nine, Klay, six, Kit, three, and one-year-old Cass, while Wayne remains in the US.
“Naturally she’s not going to like it,” Helen, 32, exclusively told new!. “I felt absolutely dreadful when I did it. What I’ve done to other people has really hurt me. But as the years have gone on I’ve started to think, ‘Hang on a minute, when is anyone going to realise that my family were affected too?’”
The former escort, who worked alongside Jenny Thompson, shares how Wayne, 33, paid the pair £1,200 each for their services in 2008.
While we can only imagine how much the confessions will upset Coleen, 33, Helen believes the WAG is “putting her children first” by standing by the footballer.
“She’s a wife who obviously doesn’t want to break up a family home. Just because a man cheats doesn’t mean he doesn’t love his wife,” she said. “I think she’s a traditional wife who knows her husband gets up to stuff, but chooses to turn a blind eye.”
But would the former Big Brother winner put up with the cheating herself? “I know how it feels to be heartbroken and for someone to humiliate you, but some women choose to accept it. I could never do that,” she insisted.
