INVESTIGATES THE DOS AND DON’TS OF EXERCISING WHILE PREGNANT

-

Model Vogue Williams, 33, revealed recently that she was trolled for exercising while pregnant with her son Theodore. She was branded a “disgrace” for her exercise regime, which included barre and intense boxing training.

“I used to get comments from people saying, ‘I think it’s a disgrace, you need to be relaxing, you’re pregnant, you need to take the next ten months off!’” she said, adding, “But that doesn’t suit me or my lifestyle or the way I feel about myself.”

Mums-to-be are regularly shamed for staying active, but the NHS has ruled that exercise is not dangerous for you or your baby – it’s actually really beneficial.

“Your body is going through its biggest challenge,” explains pre and postnatal exercise specialist and founder of Mummyfit Jennifer Drage. “Working out is incredibly important and totally normal. The benefits massively outweigh the criticism.” Here, we explore why keeping up your exercise regime can be good for you and your bump…
