The singer is already fretting about her son having a ‘stepmother’ in his life
Liam Payne was all smiles when he was pictured holding hands with American model Maya Henry on a date night in London, confirming his relationship with the pretty 18-year-old.
But one person who may not be so happy about their show of affection is his baby mamma Cheryl Tweedy, 36, who is worried about how their two-year-old son Bear will be affected by her ex’s new relationship.
“Cheryl says the thought of Liam and Maya playing happy families with Bear upsets her,” an insider told new!. “She knows she’s going to have to be mature about it and accept it, but it has stung badly and she’s not sure she’ll ever be able to make peace with
the fact that she has to, at some point, watch another woman be a mother figure to her son. Cheryl’s fear is Bear having a stepmum who he turns to and grows close to, and having a new family life away from her.”
Liam’s night out with Maya proves the pair have taken their relationship up a notch since they were first linked last summer – just weeks after he and Cheryl announced their break-up. And our insider says it has highlighted to Cheryl just how much she wishes she had a man in her life.
We’re also told she’s fretting over the possibility that Liam, 26, and Maya may one day want to start a family of their own.
“While Cheryl wants Liam to settle down again and be happy, the reality of him being in a serious relationship has hit her hard given she’s still single,” continued our mole. “She’s uneasy at the thought of Liam going on to have another baby before her and giving Bear a sibling – something she has dreamt of doing herself.”
But despite Cheryl’s concerns, our source says she wants to give Maya a chance.
“Cheryl has vowed to make an effort with Maya and wants to be on good terms with her, as she knows it would make her life incredibly tough if she wasn’t,” our insider said. “But she’d like Liam to ensure things are serious before he introduces her to
Bear, which he’s promised to do.” Liam and Maya initially met back in 2015 at a One Direction meet and greet in Kansas City when she was just
15. And after their paths crossed again at a lavish Dolce & Gabbana event in Lake Como in July 2018, things turned romantic.
Their fling quickly fizzled out, but sources say the pair reunited a few months ago, keeping their relationship quiet at first – possibly to avoid hurting Cheryl’s feelings.
“Liam and Maya have been together for several months now,” another insider claimed. “He is
besotted and they get on very well. But he wanted to wait before they started going public.
“He is close to Cheryl and, out of respect to her, only wanted to go public with a girlfriend when he knew it was right.”
