The actress – and her hubby – stand up to her critics
Loyal Mark Wright jumped to wife Michelle Keegan’s defence last week after she was bodyshamed on social media.
During a chat on his sister Jessica’s podcast, Girls#nofilter, the furious former TOWIE star, 32, hit back at online trolls who suggested her svelte figure is the result of skipping meals.
Mark fumed, “I posted a picture of us last week and underneath in the comments one of them said, ‘Michelle, you need to eat.’ But she does eat. I see her eat. She works bloody hard to get that body. I see her at the gym running and sweating, so people haven’t got the right to say that.”
Michelle, 32, also stood up for herself by uploading a string of thinly veiled retorts on Instagram. The Brassic star posted a snap of herself wearing a pale cream outfit and captioned it,
“Cream always rises to the top.”
She later shared images of her calorific food choices during a date night with Mark at Essex haunt Sheesh, as if to prove she loves nothing more than tucking into a hearty meal. “The dream,” she said of her cheesy truffle pizza, enjoyed alongside a Wagyu beef burger also dripping in cheese, which she described as, “Ridiculous.”
The actress has previously admitted she’s “naturally slim”, but insists she has a huge appetite and never deprives herself. “I’m a proper foodie, I love my food,” she said. “I never feel guilty when I eat cheat food because if I’ve been quite strict all week I feel like I deserve it.” But she confessed she does try to stick to one diet rule.
“I try not to eat carbs late at night,” she said. “I hate that feeling of feeling really full before going to bed.” Despite Mark insisting Michelle works hard in the gym to maintain her figure, she claims exercise is not the be all and end all.
“If I really, really don’t want to go, I don’t go,” she said. “I don’t punish myself. It’s not, like, my life to go to the gym. If I can go to the gym I will, if I can’t, I can’t.” Ignore the haters, Mich – we think you look great!
