The star is panicking that a police investigation into her father could affect future access to her sons
Troubled pop singer Britney Spears is facing fresh heartbreak as it’s claimed she is “terrified” she could lose custody of her two sons following an accusation of child abuse against her dad.
Fans of the star were stunned when it was revealed Brit’s father Jamie is being investigated by police after he allegedly lost his temper with her eldest child, Sean, who turns 14 this week.
According to US reports, on 24 August this year Jamie broke down Sean’s bedroom door during a row and “violently shook” him, before Britney stepped in to remove him and his brother Jayden, 13.
The singer’s ex-husband Kevin Federline, 41, who is dad to both boys and had been granted 70 per cent custody of Sean and Jayden prior to the incident, after previously sharing 50/50 with Brit, has since obtained a restraining order against Jamie.
The latest developments are said to have left Britney panicking about the future with her children. One US source claimed she “can’t believe her dad would jeopardise her relationship with her boys”, adding that she’s “always terrified that she will lose custody”.
The 37-year-old has made no secret of how much she adores her sons and has credited them for helping her with her anxiety. Speaking in 2016, she said, “Becoming a mother and being with my boys has made me so much more accepting of myself. That has been a really big thing for me over these last few years.” Before the scandal broke last week, Britney hinted that all was not well when she was spotted with newly dyed brown hair on a dinner date with her boyfriend, Sam Asghari, the day after the alleged altercation took place.
The star has previous when it comes to changing her hair colour to reflect her emotions. She was brunette when she infamously shaved her head in 2007 and she returned to the dark side in February 2013 – just a month after ending her engagement to Jason Trawick.
But after the news of her latest family issues emerged, Britney attempted to reassure fans everything was OK by uploading photos of herself pulling faces and explaining that her new look was merely down to her sister, Jamie Lynn, also dyeing her hair brown.
“Same faces, same dress, new hair !!!!! Yes, my sister inspired me to go dark !!!!!!! ,” she captioned the photo montage.
The next day she attempted to escape her problems and told her followers she was, “On a much needed vacay by myself !!!! ”
In happier news for Britney, boyfriend Sam, 25, who she’s been dating for almost three years, revealed he hopes they will one day tie the knot.
When asked if he sees marriage in their future, he replied, “Absolutely. This is something every couple should do. That’s the whole point of a relationship. We’re a family.”
