The Duke and Duchess of Sussex

As the Duchess of Sussex eyes up a move abroad her hubby is left facing a tough decision

She’s faced a barrage of criticism ever since she joined the royal family and moved to the UK full-time, so it’s no surprise the Duchess of Sussex is longing for her hometown of LA.

Last week, Edmund Fry, who taught Meghan royal etiquette when she first started dating Prince Harry, revealed the 38year-old is feeling homesick and is house-hunting in California.

“Meghan and Harry are looking for a place out here.

I’ve heard they are interested in Malibu,” revealed Edmund.

“Knowing Meghan and talking to her, she misses home. She’s a Los Angeles girl, born and raised, with many links to Hollywood and friends. It is possible to live stress-free and out of the glare of publicity here.”

But while a part-time pad across the pond might be ideal for Meghan, a source has told new! her plan is causing a headache for Harry, 34, who is torn between following his wife’s wishes and honouring his royal commitments.

“Meghan feels a lot more accepted in America than she

does in the UK, where she has few friends,” explained the insider.

“She wants to take her many charity projects and duties to the US and develop them there.”

However, members of the royal family are concerned that having a base in the States will cause yet more public outrage after it was reported the couple spent £2.4 million of taxpayers’ money renovating their current home, Frogmore Cottage.

“The general feeling from the royal family is that Harry and Meghan already live a wildly privileged life and have everything they could ever want at Frogmore Cottage,” the source continued.

“There’s been a lot of money spent on the renovations and a lot of effort was put in by Palace aides. For Meghan to want to move abroad hasn’t gone down well. Some royals are telling

Harry that living in the US is not an option.”

Not only does the Duchess believe a place in Malibu would benefit her and Harry, she’s also desperate for their fourmonth-old son Archie to experience life in America.

“Meghan’s been urging Harry to change their lifestyle for months now,” the mole continued. “She’s missing all the freedoms that were afforded to her before she joined the royal family and feels it’s important for Archie to spend time growing up there. “Harry is at a loss over what to do. As much as he wants to please Meghan, he can sense the dismay from his family and he doesn’t want to cause more unnecessary friction.”

While the royal family isn’t too thrilled about a potential move, one person who would no doubt encourage the couple to relocate is Meghan’s estranged father Thomas, who lives in Mexico.

Last week he spoke of his heartbreak at not yet meeting his grandson.

“Of course I’m disappointed not to see Archie,” he said. “I had hoped becoming a mother would mellow Meghan and she would reach out.” A Kensington Palace spokesperson declined to comment.
