Caroline Flack’s Christmas has been thrown into chaos after she was arrested following an alleged late night bust-up with her boyfriend Lewis Burton.
The TV presenter will be appearing in court just two days before Christmas after being charged with assault by beating – which carries a maximum sentence of six months in prison.
Six police cars were seen outside her London home, where she lives with the 27-year-old former tennis player, in the early hours of the morning after police said they were called to a “domestic disturbance”.
A Met Police spokesman told new, “Caroline Flack, 40, of Islington was charged on Friday 13 December with assault by beating. She will appear on bail at Highbury
Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday 23 December.
“This follows an incident at approximately 5.25am on Thursday 12 December after reports of a man assaulted. He was not seriously injured.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesman told new, “We were called yesterday [Thursday 12 December] at 5.28am to a residential address in Islington. We treated two people at the scene and took one person to hospital.”
An eyewitness said, “There were six police cars. I thought a criminal had escaped but then saw them [police] running into [Caroline’s] house. They were in there for over two hours.” Just hours before the incident, Lewis was seen picking Caroline up from a business meeting in Soho.
The incident could possibly have a devastating impact on Caroline’s career as she was due to jet off to South Africa in January to film the new series of Winter Love Island.
A representative for Caroline told new, “We confirm that police attended Caroline’s home following a private domestic incident. She is co-operating with the appropriate people to resolve matters. We will not be making any further comment for legal reasons.”
