BISTA’S BIRTHDAY BONANZA

-

Now that lockdown is easing, I’m desperate to get back to work. I’m seriously thinking about getting into the recording studio this week.

I’ve also been offered a big TV show overseas, but it was meant to start in July.

It’s been moved until later down the line – hopefully – which I’m gutted about. Ah well, let’s hope we can travel soon.

I was meant to be in rehearsals for Grease – The Musical too, but understandably, it’s been moved to next year. Like everyone, 2020 has not gone to plan, but I’m forever grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to put things into perspective.

It’s Bista’s 13th birthday this week, but we had the majority of our celebrations for her over the weekend. She had a friend come over in the daytime and they spent time in the garden in teepees, which was really cute.

We’re doing up her bedroom as well, so we’ve ordered a few presents for that – which I won’t mention, because at the time of writing this column they hadn’t arrived. Hey, it’s not like me to leave it until the last minute!

For her main present Emily bought her two little dwarf rabbits, which are so gorgeous. They’re brother and sister and have their own little house. It’s ideal for Ems and her allergies because she doesn’t have to be near them, like she would a puppy.

So you may have seen that Emily’s results came back as positive for Covid-19 antibodies after taking a test last week. Looking back to when she had the virus in March, it was a really scary time and also hard because I had six people in the house to look after. She lost her sense of smell and taste and felt achy, which was bizarre because she didn’t have a cold as such.

She self-isolated on the top floor, as did Junior, and we made out to the younger children that Ems was at work during the day. But eventually they spotted her from the garden! It was so difficult when Theo and Mills were like, “Why can’t I go to Mum?”

We’re now pretty certain Junior didn’t have it, because he had cold symptoms two weeks before his temperature spiked, but we can’t say for sure yet. The reason Emily kept it quiet was because she wasn’t 100 per cent certain it was coronavirus and she didn’t want to make a fuss until testing was available and she knew for sure. And while we do know Emily has had coronavirus and has gained antibodies, that doesn’t necessarily make her immune to the disease. Thankfully she’s in much better health now.
